The more variety, the greater the appetite. No surprise, really, since everything tastes simply delicious. From honest Styrian cooking to a dash of French cuisine, there is plenty to sample.
At Der Steirer, the many specialties of Styrian and Austrian cuisine are celebrated and refined with a contemporary touch. In a traditional Styrian way, as a matter of course – just right, without any clichés. And because Styrian wine pairs so well with classic dishes and a cozy atmosphere, Der Steirer offers a wide selection.
When the evening calls for a touch of chic and a hint of glamour – whether it’s dinner for two or à trois – Salon Marie is the place to be. The atmosphere? Simply grand. The menu? Pure temptation. Grilled octopus, Cordon bleu deluxe and beetroot ravioli with vegan fennel beurre blanc set the tone.
And a cocktail bar with smooth beats and perfectly mixed drinks keeps the night going a little longer. (Just 2 minutes away at the Grand Hôtel Wiesler.)
Kaffee Weitzer, the hotel’s own coffeehouse, serves homemade cakes – what a sweet temptation. Because once you sit down, it’s hard to leave and see more of Graz. Then again, the locals say the real Graz is served at Kaffee Weitzer anyway. Not to mention the good mocha and the view of the Mur.

Haste is for grating horseradish. At the Steirer-Theke, people in Graz take their time over a proper Steira roll. There’s a gentle Italian influence, too, with cotechino as a popular filling, though the Steira roll with boiled beef, Braunschweiger sausage or beet beans (veggie) is just as popular.
Mon–Sat 9 am – 3 pm
Start your day in Graz with a leisurely breakfast at the Engelreich. True to its name, the generous buffet offers a wide selection: from carefully chosen breakfast classics, fragrant bread and crisp pastries to freshly made omelettes and ham and eggs, along with local favourites such as creamy polenta and the signature Weitzer muesli. It’s easy to see why many guests get up early just for this.
